Landlords Are People Too (Mindset)

We're back, and we're so excited to get the #DealHunter train rolling again!

Today, we're talking about a trend that's only grown since the beginning of COVID-19; the increasing animosity towards landlords from renters. We are well aware of the hardships the virus has brought on so many people in the country, and we realize the relief provided by eviction & rent moratoriums can be a life-preserver in these uncertain times. But there seems to be a disconnect when renters who can't pay their rent are calling for the demise of landlords who in most cases, are individual homeowners who depend on rental income to maintain their own solvency. Understand; while there are large corporate landlords and apartment complexes that only view their residents as dollar signs, the majority of "landlords" are people like you and me who may have outgrown their first house and decided to make it available to rent after they closed on their new home. Or they could be #DealHunters like our listeners with access to enough capital to buy rental properties that are now using the income from those homes to secure their financial future. Either way, we must acknowledge that landlords are people too, and although they may be doing a little better than some, they should be able to benefit from the risks they took in relinquishing the use of their homes to people who need them.

We understand times are hard, but they won't get easier if we continue doing things that can destabilize the real estate industry. Stay tuned as Donny illuminates the perspective of landlords during these difficult times.
